The ACLU of Nevada has been granted permission to intervene in a lawsuit concerning the removal of over 11,000 registered voters from Washoe County’s voter rolls. The court found that the organization had a substantial interest in joining the case. The lawsuit, initiated by the Citizen Outreach Foundation, challenges voter registrations based solely on data from the National Change of Address (NCOA) database.
The ACLU of Nevada, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, stepped in to protect the rights of Washoe County voters. At least seven individuals challenged in the lawsuit are members of this organization. According to ACLUNV, the lawsuit violates state and federal laws by attempting systemic voter roll purges within 90 days of an election.
A hearing for this case is scheduled for October 15 at 9 a.m.

Our intervention will ensure that we can defend the voting rights of those who would otherwise be disenfranchised. We look forward to continuing the fight to safeguard the fundamental right to vote for every eligible voter in Washoe County.”
