The Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) Board of Regents has voted in favor of an agreement that will see Amber Donnelli serve as the interim president of Great Basin College. Donnelli is set to assume her new role this summer.
According to an announcement by the NSHE Board of Regents, Donnelli’s term as interim president will commence on July 1, 2024.
“We are confident that Dr. Donnelli will provide strong leadership and guidance to Great Basin College,” said Amy J. Carvalho, Chair of the Board of Regents, in the announcement. “Her personal connection to the college and deep understanding of Great Basin’s mission and its unique place in Nevada’s higher education landscape make her an ideal fit for the role.”
The announcement further detailed Donnelli’s educational background. She began her academic journey at Great Basin College, where she earned an Associate of Science in Nursing. In addition to this, she holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Donnelli is licensed as a registered nurse in Nevada and certified as a Nurse Educator (CNE) by the National League for Nursing.
The announcement also highlighted Donnelli’s leadership experience and expertise that she brings to her new role. She has held administrative positions such as associate vice president of Faculty Success and Dean of Health Science and Human Services at Great Basin College.
“I am honored to be entrusted with the responsibilities of Interim President of Great Basin College,” said Donnelli in the announcement. “Returning to the institution where my educational journey began is a privilege, and I am eager to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and the broader community to advance the college’s mission.”
