Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has launched a $20 million campaign urging Congress to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), a significant part of President Trump’s economic agenda. The initiative, the largest by a conservative group in support of Trump’s second-term legislative goals, aims to prevent tax increases across the nation.
Matt Humm, AFP-SC State Director, emphasized the potential financial impact on South Carolinians if Congress does not act. “This year, Congress is facing a countdown to a crisis that threatens family budgets nationwide. If Congress fails to renew the TCJA, South Carolinians will be left paying $2,199 more in taxes,” he stated. He also noted that local businesses could face a $910 tax increase and job losses exceeding 10,800.
Humm further stressed the importance of maintaining progress made under the TCJA: “If we are going to reignite the American Dream, we need to start with protecting the progress we made with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.”
The Protect Prosperity campaign plans to engage voters across all 50 states through various means including phone calls and door-to-door visits. It seeks to amplify voices supporting pro-growth tax cuts while holding accountable those who oppose them.
Additionally, AFP’s strategy includes media engagement and lobbying efforts involving over 1,000 meetings with Congressional offices. They plan in-district events with activists and Members of Congress along with roundtables featuring job creators.
AFP has previously reached nearly 30 million voters through its campaigns in 2023 and 2024. This year they aim to continue this outreach with activities such as community phone banks and direct contacts at constituent doors planned for February.
