Dr. Zaven O’Bryant, a biology professor and Faculty Senator, achieved notable success at the Las Vegas Marathon by finishing first in his age division and fourth overall. He completed the marathon with an official time of 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 40 seconds, maintaining an average pace of 5 minutes and 51 seconds per mile.
Dr. O’Bryant’s achievement is significant not only as an athletic milestone but also as a moment of pride for CSN. Known for his commitment to student success in the classroom, he has demonstrated similar dedication in athletics.
A competitive runner since his school days, Dr. O’Bryant has won numerous cross-country and track events and trained at the Olympic level. Regarding future races like the Boston Marathon, he stated, “I plan on doing at least one ‘Major’ marathon in my life. It’s somewhat difficult to enter the race through the lottery, and I hope to run fast enough to be an invited athlete.”
The Las Vegas Marathon attracted thousands of participants where Dr. O’Bryant competed alongside elite runners.
