Montgomery-based Caddell Construction has been recognized for its charitable efforts in 2024, receiving the AGC in the Community Member award for its 40-hour community service challenge. The award, presented by AGC Charities, Inc., honors construction firms and chapters for notable charitable contributions. Caddell’s initiative involved more than 300 employees, family members, and trade partners, who collectively dedicated over 1,500 hours to various charities worldwide, including food banks, land cleanup, and disaster relief in locations such as the Bahamas and Mexico.

Lainee Perala, chair of AGC Charities and Project Manager of Perlo Construction, expressed gratitude for the impact made by the industry. “These award winners remind us of how the men and women of our industry are using their skills and their resources to support the neediest in their communities,” Perala said. “They are showing how important community is to this industry.”

President and CEO Mac Caddell emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the company’s values, known as “The Caddell Way.” The challenge, launched in honor of Caddell’s 40th anniversary, tasked each team within the company to engage in 40 hours of community service from June to December 2023. The initiative has inspired many participants to continue volunteering beyond the official challenge period.

The AGC in the Community Award winners are determined by a panel of judges representing various areas of construction. The awards focus on the level of commitment to charitable efforts, the scope of the projects, and the positive impacts on communities. Awards were announced during the association’s Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
