After years of anticipation, Cave Lake in Nevada is set to reopen on June 7, 2025. The grand re-opening event, hosted by the Nevada Division of State Parks, Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), and White Pine County Tourism, marks the return of a popular recreation destination.

Cave Lake State Park was closed for water-based activities in 2019 due to major dam repairs. With construction completed ahead of schedule, visitors can now enjoy fishing, kayaking, and swimming once again.

The celebration will feature a full day of activities from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both Lake View Campground and Elk Flat Campground will be open for the weekend. Lake View Campground will operate on a first-come, first-served basis with reservations available only for volunteers on June 6th and 7th. Due to expected large crowds, early arrival is recommended as parking may fill up quickly. Overflow parking will be allowed along the access road with shuttle service provided from overflow areas into the park. Motorized boats are not permitted on June 7 due to safety concerns.

“Restoring Cave Lake has been a collaborative effort,” said NDOW Director Alan Jenne. “This project has brought together multiple agencies and dedicated individuals.” He expressed gratitude towards the local community for their support during the restoration process.

Bob Mergell, Administrator of the Nevada Division of State Parks, added that this event invites everyone to reconnect with the park’s natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

The event offers free admission but vendors, gift shop items, annual passes, and food items will be available for purchase. For more information or inquiries about volunteering or sponsorships, contact Cave Lake State Park at (775) 296-1505 or clsp@parks.nv.gov.
