A new resource center has opened in North Las Vegas, marking a collaboration between the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and the City of North Las Vegas. The Dolores Huerta Resource Center celebrated its grand opening with community leaders, elected officials, and local families. The event, marked by balloons and mariachi music, also launched the provision of free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

Among the attendees were North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown, Councilman Scott Black, Councilman Isaac Barron, and family members of civil rights leaders Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez. Their presence highlighted the center’s dedication to advocacy, education, and empowerment.

CSN representatives, including Executive Director of External Relations Ruben Kihuen and Vice President of External Relations and Campus Operations Clarissa Cota J.D., joined in the celebrations. The resource center aims to be a supportive environment for residents to improve language skills, access essential services, and engage with a caring community.

The partnership has been acknowledged for honoring past legacies while fostering future growth, with CSN expressing gratitude to the city for helping realize this project.
