CSN’s Early Childhood Education Lab recently held a series of storytime sessions with visits from top leaders. Dr. William Kibler, President of CSN, and Dr. James McCoy, Vice President of Academic Affairs, participated in these events to share their love for storytelling with young students.
Dr. Kibler visited the Dandelions classroom and read “Scribble Stones,” encouraging creativity and self-expression among the children. They welcomed him with a handmade sign adorned with colorful tapes. Following the reading session, the children engaged in an outdoor activity where they painted their own “scribble stones” under the guidance of their teacher, Amy.
A few weeks earlier, Dr. McCoy visited the Aspen classroom to share stories about manners and inclusion. One featured tale was about a selfish crocodile that emphasized kindness and politeness through saying “please” and “thank you.” The children actively participated by discussing ways to ensure everyone feels included during his visit.
These visits supported the ECE Lab’s focus on enhancing listening skills and connecting stories to real-world experiences. Parents are encouraged to discuss these memorable storytime sessions with their children—whether it’s painting rocks or practicing good manners—as they are likely to become cherished memories for the young learners.
The ECE Lab expressed gratitude towards Dr. Kibler and Dr. McCoy for dedicating time to engage with future generations.
