Great Basin College (GBC) has initiated the search for a new Vice President of Finance and Operations (VPFO). Established in 1967, GBC is part of the Nevada System of Higher Education and serves over 3,500 students annually. The college’s main campus is located in Elko, Nevada, with a service area spanning 86,500 square miles across ten counties.

GBC offers a variety of associate and baccalaureate degree programs through both in-person and online platforms. The institution is recognized for its commitment to providing quality education and serving rural Nevada communities. It operates branch campuses in Battle Mountain, Ely, Pahrump, Winnemucca, and satellite centers across nearly 20 communities.

The VPFO will report directly to the President as the Chief Financial Officer for GBC. This role involves overseeing budget development and administration, fiscal analysis, financial reporting, contracts budget administration, purchasing audits reviews, capital planning budget advocacy, computer services department oversight, and facilities management. The position also requires collaboration with NSHE system office executives on budgeting/planning.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with policies and regulations related to financial and administrative services; contributing to strategic planning; aligning strategies with academic goals; representing the college externally; participating in long-range planning; implementing risk management strategies; effective communication with students and staff; maintaining professionalism; and respecting diverse backgrounds within the community college environment.
