The Western Nevada College Foundation celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Golf for Education tournament on September 27. The event took place at Toiyabe Golf Club and drew in business partners and supporters aligned with the college’s mission to equip students with skills for Nevada’s workforce.
The tournament, played as an 18-hole scramble, saw participation from 33 teams. The favorable weather conditions added to the enjoyment of players, volunteers, sponsors, and organizers alike. WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe expressed his satisfaction: “The WNC Golf for Education Tournament — now in its 25th year — was a hole-in-one in every way! We had a great turnout from our business partners along with fantastic volunteers.”
Jeff Love & Friends clinched the title by scoring a 31-under-par 41, finishing five strokes ahead of Team Davison. The winning team consisted of Jeff Love, Stephen Garman, Fernando Serrano, and Sean Goshert. Team Davison included Sean Davison, Brad Wick, Vince Christenson, and Connor Morze.
Participants enjoyed various amenities including breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A, a long drive contest, raffle prizes, and an awards ceremony. Niki Gladys, WNC Chief Advancement Officer and Foundation Executive Director stated: “Thanks to all of WNC’s supporters who participated; you’ve not only enjoyed a fantastic day of golf but also played a crucial role in creating a brighter future for students in need.”
In addition to the competition itself, participants could purchase mulligans and putting strings to help lower their scores. Thomas Bunker won the putting contest by landing an 85-foot putt within 13 inches of the cup.
WNC Foundation extended gratitude towards players and businesses for their support in making this milestone event memorable. Special recognition was given to numerous sponsors including Metcalf Builders Inc., Briggs Electric Inc., Classic Finishes among others.
