Organizations in the Lake Tahoe Region are gearing up for Earth Day 2025 celebrations with a series of events scheduled on both the South and North Shores. The annual South Tahoe Earth Day event is set to take place at Lake Tahoe Community College on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, featuring more than 20 educational booths, provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about protecting Lake Tahoe.
Admission and parking are free, and attendees are encouraged to use eco-friendly transportation options such as walking, biking, or public transit. A free bike valet service will be available courtesy of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition, and those who use alternative transportation will receive a raffle ticket.
Lily Summerville, California Climate Action Corps Fellow and Earth Day Committee Co-president, highlighted the importance of the event: “This event teaches visitors and residents how they can protect Lake Tahoe not just for Earth Day, but every day. We are excited about the incredible eco-booths, live music, drum circle, and the aerialist performance.”
The festival will feature raffle prizes, climate-friendly food and beverage trucks, live music by The Imposters and a DJ set by Deon Pearson. Attendees will also be entertained by an aerialist performance by Liv Davi and her students, along with a drum circle led by Liz Broscoe. More than 50 educational booths run by local non-profits will be present.
Sponsors of the Earth Day event include Lake Tahoe Community College, South Tahoe Public Utility District, South Tahoe Refuse, Pay It Forward Project, Tahoe Fund, Barton Health, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Tahoe Water Suppliers Association, Liberty Utilities, Keep Tahoe Blue, and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
Earth Day officially falls on April 22, but the South Tahoe Earth Day Festival will kick off the Tahoe Earth Week 2025 celebrations on April 19. More details are available on their website, southtahoeearthday.org. The Tahoe-Truckee Earth Day Festival will be held the following Saturday, April 26, in Olympic Valley, California.
