Overnight and weekend lane closures on McCarran Boulevard (State Route 659) in north Reno will commence on July 8, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). These closures are part of a project to repave the roadway.

From July 8 through July 12, intermittent overnight single-lane closures will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on sections of McCarran Boulevard between North Virginia Street and Clear Acre Lane. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

Future single-lane closures are also anticipated during two construction weekends in July. NDOT will provide full schedule details once the weekend construction schedule is finalized.

Speed limits in the affected areas will be reduced to 40 mph. Drivers are advised to leave extra travel time and expect moderate travel delays when driving through the area. Brief intersection closures will also take place as paving occurs. The road work schedule is subject to change.

The project involves removing and repaving the top inch of aging roadway surface to resurface and preserve the roadway for a smoother and safer drive. This initial resurfacing effort aims to enhance driving conditions before more extensive resurfacing planned for future years.
