Truckee Meadows Community College announced on May 19 that more than 1,400 students are set to graduate during the annual commencement ceremony scheduled for Friday, May 22 at Lawlor Events Center.
The event will recognize a graduating class of 1,449 students who have collectively earned 1,535 degrees and certificates. The ceremony will include graduates from Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026. This year’s candidates have completed a range of programs including bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and certificates of achievement.
Graduates this year include recipients of new academic credentials such as Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Applied Business Management and Emergency Management; Associate of Applied Science degrees in Air Conditioning Technician and Climate Control Systems; as well as Certificates of Achievement in Business and Entrepreneurship and Welding CNC. Among the graduating class are first-generation college students, veteran graduates, dual-enrolled high school students—including those from ACE High School (31 degrees) and TMCC High School (44 degrees)—and international students representing eleven countries. The oldest candidate is age seventy-six while the youngest three candidates are each sixteen years old.
Wendy Solorio Ramirez will be recognized as TMCC’s Nevada Regents’ Scholar Award winner after earning an Associate of Science Degree in Construction Management with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2025. She continues her studies at TMCC toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Operations Management. In addition to her academic achievements she has served as a Student Government Association senator and helped found La Raza, an organization promoting Latinx and Hispanic culture.
Alumna Sophie Moeller will be honored as the college’s Alumna of the Year for overcoming personal challenges including ADHD and substance use struggles before graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree in 2022. Moeller now serves as Development Director for Achieve Tahoe supporting outdoor recreation opportunities for people with disabilities.
Truckee Meadows Community College contributes more than $678 million annually to the regional economy while preparing students for local industries—with ninety-five percent of graduates remaining in Nevada—according to the official website. The college operates across four educational sites and more than twenty community locations serving nearly twenty thousand students each year through credit and non-credit programs across multiple locations according to its official website.
