National Restaurant Association comments on new labor legislation

The National Restaurant Association has issued a statement regarding the introduction of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. The statement was made by Sean Kennedy, Executive Vice President for Public Affairs at the association.

Kennedy emphasized the need for Congress to focus on legislation that supports workforce growth and development. He stated, “We continue to encourage Congress to focus on bills that grow and develop our nation’s workforce, which would have a much greater, positive impact on restaurant owners, their team members, and their communities.”

Expressing concerns about the PRO Act, Kennedy noted potential limitations it could impose on communication rights between workers and employers. “We are concerned with any proposed legislation, like the PRO Act, that would put limitations on the rights of workers and employers to communicate directly,” he said.

Kennedy also expressed a willingness to collaborate with Congress in finding solutions beneficial to the restaurant and food service industry across the United States. He added, “We look forward to working with Congress on solutions that ensure a thriving restaurant and food service industry throughout the U.S.”
