The Nevada Division of State Lands (NDSL) has announced that it is now accepting proposals for its Nevada Lake Tahoe License Plate grant program. The program offers up to $1,000,000 in grants for projects aimed at preserving and restoring the Lake Tahoe Basin.
“Every plate counts! Help preserve and protect Lake Tahoe by purchasing a Nevada Lake Tahoe license plate for $61 with an annual renewal fee of $30,” stated NDSL. More information can be found on their website.
Lake Tahoe is renowned globally for its recreational opportunities, from crystal-clear waters to backcountry skiing in the Sierra Nevada. To maintain this environment, the grant program will fund initiatives such as water quality projects, state park improvements, research studies, invasive species removal, and public education efforts.
Eligible applicants are invited to submit their proposals by 4:00 p.m. on November 8, 2024. Late applications will not be considered.
The program offers:
– Up to $1,000,000 in funding for public agencies and nonprofit organizations.
– Priority funding for projects listed on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s 5-year Environmental Improvement Program list.
– A required matching contribution of at least 25%, unless the applicant is a Nevada state agency.
– Competitive allocation of funds.
– Reimbursement-based grants with a maximum indirect cost rate of 40%.

The grant funding comes from sales and annual renewal fees of specialty license plates through the Nevada Lake Tahoe License Plate Program, which has raised over $11 million.
