The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is advising customers to use online services and avoid in-person visits early next week, following the Thanksgiving holiday. The Monday after Thanksgiving is typically the busiest day for DMV offices. This year, offices will be closed from November 26 through November 29.

“Enjoy the holidays and stay safe,” stated DMV Director Julie Butler. “Visit our website first for your DMV needs and, if you have to come in, please consider visiting the office later in the week to avoid long lines and delays in service.”

The DMV locations in Carson City, Henderson, Las Vegas, and Reno operate on an appointment basis. Walk-in services during weekdays are restricted to movement permits, kiosks, vehicle inspections, and general information. The department requests that customers do not wait in line for other types of transactions and urges those unable to keep appointments to cancel them.

Online services at dmvnv.com include driver’s license and ID card renewals as well as duplicate licenses and IDs. Vehicle registration for cars purchased from Nevada dealers can also be completed online. Since launching this service on September 21, more than 35,000 online license and ID card renewals have been processed by Nevadans.
