The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has introduced audio versions of the Nevada Driver Handbook in both English and Spanish. These recordings, available in MP3 format, can be accessed online at dmvnv.com/handbooks.

Traditionally, audiobooks have been utilized to support second-language learners, students with learning impairments, struggling readers, and non-readers. The DMV’s new audio handbooks aim to assist drivers from these groups in understanding road rules and laws specific to Nevada.

“Our goal is to help make Nevada’s roads safer by providing driver training in a variety of formats,” stated DMV Acting Director Cyndie Munoz. “We have offered the driver knowledge test in audio for many years. The audio handbooks are a significant enhancement to help new drivers learn the rules.”

The department acknowledged the support of the Nevada Secretary of State’s office and the Nevada Talking Books Services program of the Nevada State Library for their assistance with the Spanish edition. Maria Tello-Magana from the Secretary of State staff recorded the Spanish version at the Nevada State Library in Carson City, while Kevin Malone, DMV Public Information Officer, recorded the English version.
