The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is set to introduce two new charitable license plates on October 1. The “Forever Strong” plate commemorates the second anniversary of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas and will support the Las Vegas Resiliency Center, which continues to assist victims.
This plate displays a black and gold “Vegas Strong” heart logo on a gold gradient background, with “Forever Strong” inscribed at the bottom. In parallel, the “STEM” license plate aims to advance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education through grants to nonprofit organizations. These grants will be distributed by Nevada’s Governor’s Office on Science, Innovation and Technology (OSIT) alongside a STEM advisory council.
Brian Mitchell, OSIT Director, stated: “Many of the jobs today’s K-12 students will hold have not even been invented yet. But the skills students acquire in a high-quality STEM education will prepare them for life no matter the pathway they choose.” He expressed enthusiasm for these plates raising awareness about STEM education in Nevada and thanked the DMV for their involvement in design and production.
The STEM plate includes the OSIT logo on a green gradient background with “STEM” at its base. Both specialty plates are priced at $62 for standard numbering and $97 for personalized versions, plus existing registration fees. A $6 fee applies when swapping plates on current registrations without requiring a smog check or renewal. Annual renewals are priced at $30 for standard plates and $50 for personalized ones.
