Nevada DMV unveils redesigned website amid $114 million transformation effort

Motorists visiting the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) online since March 21 have encountered a redesigned website at dmv.nv.gov. Nevada DMV Director Julie Butler expressed optimism about the update, stating, “We think customers are going to be very pleased with the look and feel of the new web site.” The revamped site features a new logo that aligns with the agency’s mission to lead in DMV services.

The launch coincides with the announcement of the Nevada DMV Transformation Effort, a four-year project costing $114 million aimed at enhancing customer service. The initiative seeks to expand online services so most transactions can be completed digitally. Butler explained, “The idea is to create an online marketplace where everything you need to do is at your fingertips.”

Rather than building a new computer system, new services will gradually be introduced over four years using Salesforce technology. Slalom and Mission Critical Partners are collaborating on customizing this platform for the DMV.

Feedback from stakeholders and customers has been integral to this transformation. An online survey conducted in December 2021 gathered over 18,000 responses indicating a desire for more online services and efficient transactions. These results align with the DMV’s goals as they plan future projects.

While most services will transition online, physical offices will remain open for complex transactions like driver testing. Self-service kiosks will also continue operating for those without internet access.

Butler emphasized that these changes should reduce wait times at DMV offices as more customers utilize online options: “As more of our customers discover the benefits of doing transactions online, there will be fewer people who need to visit a DMV office.”
