The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced upcoming lane restrictions on Interstate 15 (I-15) northeast of Las Vegas. The traffic control measures are necessary to place temporary barrier rails, install drainage pipes and culverts, conduct roadway excavation, and paving.

From July 21 through August 29, north- and southbound I-15 will be reduced to one lane between Ute (Exit 80) and Byron (Exit 84) in northeast Clark County. These restrictions will be in effect overnight from Sunday through Wednesday, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The lane reductions are part of ongoing work to add dedicated truck climbing lanes on I-15. According to NDOT, the truck climbing lanes “will serve as a designated passage for general-purpose traffic,” enabling faster travel past trucks and other slower-moving vehicles. Additionally, the project includes extending existing drainage facilities and widening the embankment.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traveling through work zones and to take alternate detour routes if possible. NDOT collaborates with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. Construction schedules may change due to weather or other factors.
