The Nevada Department of Education and Nevada Gold Mines have extended their partnership with Discovery Education for a fifth consecutive year. This collaboration, which began in 2020, continues to provide engaging digital content to educators and students across all 17 counties in Nevada.

Since the partnership’s inception, over 24,000 educators and 344,000 students have engaged with Discovery Education’s K-12 digital resources more than 4.6 million times. The extension ensures continued access to these educational tools for another year.

Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction, stated: “We are incredibly pleased to continue this powerful collaboration benefiting the state of Nevada.” She emphasized that the partnership helps connect classroom learning with potential careers within the state and maintains student access to high-quality digital resources.

In July 2020, it was announced that Discovery Education Experience would be made available free of charge to all Nevada educators and students. This initiative is part of a broader effort involving several states using Discovery Education resources statewide.

Leslie Goicoechea from Nevada Gold Mines expressed pride in continuing the partnership: “By helping prepare students for success in both higher education and the workforce, we are contributing to the prosperity of our state.”

Nevada Gold Mines has also contributed an additional $500,000 to support increasing the number of high-quality educators in Nevada. To date, they have invested nearly $5 million in enhancing education within the state.

Coni Rechner from Discovery Education highlighted research showing positive impacts on science achievement and progress in closing achievement gaps due to this partnership. She looks forward to further collaborations ensuring these trends continue.

Educators using Discovery Education’s resources can access a global community through the Discovery Educator Network for professional development and idea sharing.
