The Nevada Division of Insurance has issued guidance to policyholders of Key Insurance Company following a court order in Kansas placing the company into receivership. The order prohibits Key Insurance from issuing new policies or renewing existing ones, affecting over 22,000 auto insurance policies in Nevada.
Policyholders are urged to find replacement coverage immediately to maintain continuous auto insurance. “The Nevada Division of Insurance is committed to ensuring consumers have the resources and information they need during this challenging time,” stated Insurance Commissioner Scott Kipper. He emphasized the importance of acting swiftly to comply with Nevada’s auto insurance requirements.
To avoid lapses, policyholders should work with local brokers or contact the Western Association Automobile Insurance Plan for assistance if unable to secure coverage. Refunds will be issued for premiums paid on policies attempted to be renewed after March 4, 2025.
