The Nevada Department of Education has launched a new data portal, the Nevada Educator Workforce and Class Sizes Portal, now accessible to the public. The portal went live on Friday and aims to provide transparent information about the state’s educator workforce and class sizes.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Jhone Ebert stated, “The portal allows the Nevada Department of Education to provide constituents across our state with transparent and easily accessible information about the educator workforce and class sizes. This data also highlights the positive impact of recent pay increases for our dedicated, hardworking school employees. Having a highly effective classroom teacher is a crucial factor in a student’s success.”

This initiative follows Governor Joe Lombardo’s signing of the largest education budget in Nevada’s history for the 2023-25 biennium. The department has collaborated with school districts and public charter schools over the past two years to clean and validate relevant data, leading to this portal’s creation.

Nathan Trenholm, founding partner of Data Insight Partners, remarked on its significance: “This new portal is a game-changer for transparency and advocacy. For the first time, parents, district staff, advocates, and policymakers will have access to timely data on class sizes and educator workforce trends. This information will empower us to make informed decisions that support our children’s education and workforce development.”

The project was completed in partnership with Data Insight Partners along with Nevada school districts and public charter schools.
