The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDOR) has announced the appointment of Kaden Barmore as the new leader of the Nevada Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program. Denise Beronio, Administrator for NDOR, expressed confidence in Barmore’s abilities: “Kaden brings amazing passion and dedication to the diverse landscape of the Nevada OHV Program and will be an incredible asset to help grow the OHV mission while elevating its brand within the state.” She further emphasized his suitability for the role, stating, “Kaden is everything we could have hoped for in filling this position, which requires a deep knowledge for promoting safe and responsible OHV use, along with an understanding of the reciprocal process between DMV registrations and grant funding opportunities. Kaden’s previous experience within the NVOHV program along with his expertise in trails is truly the perfect fit!”
Barmore grew up in Reno and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2018. He then attended the National Park Service Law Enforcement Academy in Flagstaff, Arizona but later shifted his focus to conservation. Returning to Reno, he began working as a recreation technician for the Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles Program. His passion for outdoor recreation led him to roles with organizations such as Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful. In 2023, Barmore earned a Master’s degree in Natural and Cultural Resource Communication from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Outside of work, Barmore enjoys exploring Nevada’s backcountry through activities like hiking and mountain biking. During winter months, he engages in skiing and snowshoeing in the Sierras.
The Nevada Off-Highway Vehicle Program oversees registration for various off-highway vehicles including ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, dune buggies, and homemade OHVs. The program also provides grants supporting projects related to trail improvements, mapping, signage, education, safety training, restoration among other initiatives.
