The Nevada Department of Education is set to open a public comment period in April for its annual state application under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The application, which pertains to the federal fiscal year 2025 and aligns with the state fiscal year 2026, is now accessible for public viewing. Copies have been distributed across Nevada.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Jhone Ebert emphasized the importance of this process: “Our annual IDEA state application is an opportunity to seek the resources necessary to best support our students to help them reach their full potential.”
The document can be reviewed at the Nevada Department of Education’s offices in Carson City and Las Vegas. Those interested in obtaining a copy can contact the Office of Inclusive Education or visit Public Comment for Part B online.
Federal regulations mandate that this document be circulated statewide for 60 days before it is submitted to the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, within this period, there must be a 30-day window dedicated to receiving written public comments.
