As the fall semester begins, Interim Chancellor Patricia Charlton of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) extended a warm welcome to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. “Welcome to the Fall Semester, NSHE Family!” she announced.

Charlton emphasized the unique nature of NSHE, which spans from Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas. She highlighted the distinct contributions of each institution within the system. “From the pioneering research and rich traditions at the University of Nevada, Reno, to the cutting-edge innovation and spirit of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas,” she noted that all institutions are united in their mission to provide quality education.

Addressing community colleges such as College of Southern Nevada, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, and Great Basin College, Charlton remarked on their essential role in offering accessible education and workforce training. “Your commitment to student success is inspiring,” she said.

Nevada State University was recognized for its growing reputation in liberal arts and education. Charlton praised its dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus culture.

To students across all institutions, Charlton offered encouragement: “This is your time.” She urged them to engage fully with their educational opportunities by connecting with professors, joining student organizations, exploring internships, and participating in campus life.

Charlton also expressed gratitude towards faculty and staff for their dedication. “It is your hard work and commitment that make our institutions places of excellence and innovation,” she stated.

In closing, Charlton called for a collective embrace of collaboration and knowledge pursuit as defining elements of NSHE. “Together, we are stronger,” she concluded.
