Gov. Steve Sisolak, Congressman Mark Amodei, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, State Senator Ben Kieckhefer, and Reno Councilperson Naomi Duerr attended the grand opening of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles’ new office in south Reno. The event also saw participation from members of the Northern Nevada Classics Car Club and other officials.
DMV Director Julie Butler expressed gratitude for those involved in the project, stating, “We would like to thank all those who helped make this beautiful building possible.” She added that they are excited to open the new facility while encouraging Nevadans to use online services for their transactions.
The office, which had a soft opening on November 2, features three kiosks outside to expedite customer service. Notably, it includes the nation’s first drive-through kiosk. The building is located at 9155 Double Diamond Parkway and took 15 months to construct with a budget of approximately $50 million. Initial planning and design started in 2011 and were revisited in 2018.
This new facility replaces the former DMV office at 305 Galletti Way, which closed permanently on October 23. Customers are encouraged to complete transactions online at dmvnv.com as appointments remain necessary for in-person visits.
