The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is set to open a new office in south Reno on November 2. This development was announced by DMV Director Julie Butler, who expressed enthusiasm about the new facility. “We are thrilled to be able to open this brand new facility to serve the community,” she stated. Butler also extended gratitude to those involved in making the project a reality, saying, “We would like to thank all those who helped make this beautiful new building possible.”

Located at 9155 Double Diamond Parkway, the office features three kiosks outside aimed at expediting customer service. Notably, it includes what is described as the first drive-through kiosk in the nation.

Construction of the building took 15 months and had a budget of approximately $50 million. Initial planning and design commenced in 2011 and were revisited in 2018.

This new establishment will replace the current DMV office located at 305 Galletti Way, which will close permanently on October 23. During the transition period from October 26-30, general DMV services will not be available in Reno.

Additionally, offices for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Motor Carrier services currently situated at 810 Greg St. in Sparks will cease operations on October 16 and reopen at the new location on October 19. These services will occupy a separate building with an address of 890 Trademark Dr.

The DMV encourages customers to utilize online services via dmvnv.com whenever possible since appointments remain necessary for in-person visits.
