Nikki Haag has been appointed as Deputy Director of the newly established Nevada Office of Boards, Commissions and Councils Standards. This announcement was made by Dr. Kristopher Sanchez, Director of the Department of Business and Industry. The office was created within the department following the passage of SB 431 during the 2023 legislative session.

Haag brings a wealth of experience in public service and administration to her new role. She previously worked as a Consumer Health Assistant/Arbiter for the Office for Consumer Health within the Aging and Disability Services Division. In this position, she focused on consumer advocacy and healthcare rights, handling education, external reviews, and dispute resolution.

Before that, Haag served as Community Engagement Manager and Public Information Officer with the Aging and Disability Services Division. Her duties included supervising administrative support for public bodies, ensuring compliance with state regulations, managing public information, and acting as a legislative liaison.

Haag’s experience also includes working in the Nevada Governor’s Office as Boards and Commissions Program Officer under Governor Brian Sandoval’s administration. There she managed over 200 gubernatorial appointments, showcasing her understanding of Nevada Revised Statutes and legislative processes.

She holds an Associate Degree of Applied Science from South Plains College and attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Additionally, she has participated in the Councils for Establishment of Academic Standards for Public Schools since November 2015 under Governors Sandoval and Sisolak.

Dr. Sanchez expressed confidence in Haag’s capabilities: “Nikki’s extensive background in public administration, coupled with her deep knowledge of Nevada’s legislative and regulatory framework, make her the ideal candidate to steer the Office of Boards, Commissions and Councils Standards,” said Sanchez. “We are excited to welcome her to the Department and look forward to further developing the framework to operationalize this new office.”

Haag will officially begin her duties on February 5 at the Carson City Director’s Office.

The Department of Business and Industry is a cabinet-level agency in Nevada State government aimed at promoting business development while ensuring legal operations to protect consumers through fair regulation. More information can be found at http://business.nv.gov.
