The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents has initiated the active recruitment phase for a new Chancellor. The search is now open for applications and nominations, as the Board seeks a permanent leader to advance higher education in Nevada.

Regent Susan Brager, chair of the ad hoc Chancellor Search Committee, announced that Greenwood Asher & Associates, a firm known for its expertise in higher education leadership searches, is assisting in this process. Together, they have developed a comprehensive leadership profile to ensure an inclusive and thorough search.

“Our focus is on finding a leader who can address the challenges and opportunities unique to Nevada, ensuring that NSHE continues to serve as a cornerstone of educational excellence and economic development in the state,” said Amy J. Carvalho, Chair of the NSHE Board of Regents. “The Chancellor plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of higher education in Nevada.”

The Chancellor will act as NSHE’s chief executive officer, managing a system that includes two doctoral-granting research universities, a state university, four community colleges, and one environmental research institute. These institutions collectively serve over 100,000 students each year.

The Board is looking for candidates who demonstrate commitment to student success and educational equity; bring strategic vision for addressing workforce needs; exhibit leadership and collaboration skills; and value transparency and inclusivity.

Applications are being accepted through Greenwood Asher & Associates. Interested parties may contact Jim Johnsen at jimjohnsen@greenwoodsearch.com, Julie Holley at julieholley@greenwoodsearch.com, or Itza Walters at itzawalters@greenwoodsearch.com. Further details are available on the Chancellor Search Page.

“We are confident this search will bring forward candidates who align with NSHE’s mission and values,” stated Regent Susan Brager.
