The College of Southern Nevada is set to host a screening of the PBS award-winning documentary, “Storming Caesar’s Palace,” on April 24, 2024. The event will take place at the Charleston Campus in K101 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Directed by filmmaker Hazel Gurland, the documentary highlights the story of local Welfare Rights activist Ms. Ruby Duncan. The film captures her efforts in advocating for social justice and equality.

“Storming Caesar’s Palace” premiered on “Independent Lens” during Women’s History Month in 2023 and has received critical acclaim for its narrative and storytelling. It emphasizes grassroots activism and resilience.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with director Hazel Gurland. This session offers attendees an opportunity to learn more about the creative process behind the documentary.

The College of Southern Nevada emphasizes amplifying voices that often go unheard. The documentary aligns with these values by providing a platform for reflection and dialogue.
