The world of business demands professionals with a comprehensive understanding of communications, operations, accounting, and more. For those interested in joining large or small corporations, starting their own companies, or pursuing careers in marketing, finance, or management, TMCC offers various educational options.

TMCC is expanding its educational offerings with new certifications and degrees to equip students with the necessary professional knowledge and skills for future workplace demands. Starting Fall 2024, the Business Communications Skills Certificate aims to prepare individuals for diverse career opportunities. "It would be a great certificate to pair with any other TMCC degree or certificate program, or as a stand-alone option," said Amy Williams, Dean of the Business and Social Sciences Division.

For further information about the Business Communications Skills Certificate, please call 775-673-7132.

The Business FastTrack Program at TMCC is designed for those who wish to quickly complete an associate’s degree in Business. "This program is ideal for anyone who wants to get their degree done! Whether you're working full-time, have a family, or just aren’t interested in traditional education," said Amanda Starkel, a Business FastTrack student.

Courses are offered in five-week blocks with short breaks between some classes. The program can be completed in one or two years. Students can choose to focus on one class at a time over two years or take two classes simultaneously to finish within one year. "Either option is completed fully online so that students can study and learn at times convenient for their schedule," added Williams.

Graduates will be prepared for success in today’s competitive business market. Courses are also fully transferable to University Nevada, Reno and many other four-year institutions for those aiming to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

TMCC’s EPIC (Educational Programs Inspiring the Community) department offers a seven-week Microsoft Office Specialist program designed to enhance proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. “By completing this program, you'll be prepared to take certification exams for each software application (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), testing for certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist: Associate in each,” said Fayth Ross, EPIC’s Program Director.

No application is required to enroll in this program; registration is currently open with the next session beginning on Sept. 9.
