The grading and digging season in the Tahoe area is set to conclude on October 15, 2024. This annual requirement aims to prevent sediment from entering stormwater systems and Lake Tahoe itself. It also helps avoid soil compaction and disturbance during the wettest months of the year.

Certain activities are exempt from needing approval from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), even outside of the designated grading season. However, these projects must be stabilized during wet conditions and halted when snow covers them. A list of such exempt projects can be found under Frequently Asked Questions.
