The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents has initiated a nationwide search for the new President of Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). TMCC is a significant institution in Northern Nevada's educational sector.

"TMCC has long been a leader in providing access to high-quality education and workforce development opportunities in our state," said Amy J. Carvalho, Chair of the Board of Regents. "We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader who can build on TMCC’s strong foundation and guide the institution through its next chapter of growth and success."

This decision comes after current President Karin Hilgersom announced her retirement effective June 30, 2025. She will retire after nine years at the college, during which she served both TMCC and the Reno community. The college serves over 20,000 students annually across various campuses, contributing significantly to regional education and workforce training needs.

"We believe a national search will allow us to attract a diverse pool of highly qualified candidates," stated Interim Chancellor Patricia Charlton. "We look forward to welcoming a leader who shares our commitment to student success and will further TMCC’s mission to serve the community."

The Board plans to appoint a search consultant soon to aid in recruiting the next president.
