The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) has appointed Jasmine Kleiber as the new Wildlife Diversity Division Administrator. This division is responsible for the protection and management of numerous non-game wildlife species in Nevada, including those that are at-risk and sensitive.
"We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Jasmine’s caliber and experience to step up and lead our Wildlife Diversity Division," stated Alan Jenne, Director for the Nevada Department of Wildlife. "Her passion for all things wild in Nevada is evident in everything she does, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her lead this division into the future."
Kleiber holds a bachelor's degree in conservation biology and a master's degree focusing on small watershed hydrology from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her career spans work across the Great Basin as a contract biologist for the Department of Defense, an environmental scientist for the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, and an environmental consultant for Stantec. She joined NDOW in 2015 within the Habitat Division as a partner biologist, working with private lands in Nevada. In 2017, she became a Wildlife Staff Specialist overseeing NDOW’s statewide Technical Review Program and associated federal grant.
"I am both humbled and excited for this new opportunity," Kleiber expressed. "I’ve had the fortune to work with so many dedicated, passionate people at NDOW. To be able to play even a small part in the conservation of Nevada’s diverse wildlife is something I do not take for granted and look forward to continuing."
Kleiber highlighted that NDOW manages nearly 900 different species of fish, birds, animals, and their habitats in Nevada. "While that might seem overwhelming to some, it’s that incredible variety that makes working here so meaningful."
