Mr. Chelewa "Che" Gant has been appointed as the new Director of Libraries at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). Following a national search, Gant will assume his role on June 3. He previously served as the Director for Front Range Community College's Boulder Campus Library and was also the Open Educational Resource administrator.
Gant, whose name is pronounced "SHAY," brings nearly a decade of experience as a public librarian. His approach to community engagement aligns with CSN's mission and campus culture. Additionally, he is working on a young adult book series and plans to volunteer in the local community. Gant began his education at the Community College of Denver, earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and criminology from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado, and completed his master's degree in library and information science at Kent State University in Ohio in 2015.
The college expressed gratitude to Mrs. Stephanie Villamor for her service as Interim Director over the past 13 months. During her tenure, she maintained high standards of service within CSN Libraries. Villamor will assist Gant during the transition period to ensure continuity.
