Kenneth Falconer, a technician with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), has been honored as the Nevada Employee Veteran of the Month for January 2021. Falconer was recognized for his contributions and service to the State of Nevada.
Falconer's military career includes service with the Nevada Army National Guard. He joined the State of Nevada Department of Corrections in 2014 and transitioned to the DMV in 2018, working as a Field Services Technician in Reno. At the DMV, he is noted for his dedication to customer service and efforts to ensure workplace safety.
“I want to thank Kenneth Falconer for his devotion both to our country and to the citizens of the State of Nevada,” said DMV Director Julie Butler. “Kenneth has a record of exemplary service that few can match. He is a tremendous asset to our state.”
Falconer enlisted in the US Army and after training at Fort Benning and Airborne School, he served with C Co 3/504 PIR from 2002-2005. His military experience includes three deployments in Afghanistan, two in Iraq, and earning several badges including Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Expert Infantryman Badge.
He described being attached to SOTG TF 66 with Australian SASR as his most memorable assignment but cited recent work during Operation Warp Speed as particularly rewarding. Despite deployment during this federal COVID-19 effort, Falconer assisted at the DMV on non-duty days by processing mail-in transactions.
The DMV supports active-duty military members and veterans through various initiatives such as vehicle tax exemptions for military service and offering military license plates.
The Employee Veteran of the Month award was initiated in January 2021 by the Nevada Department of Administration Director alongside the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management.
