The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is advising customers to consider alternative services or delay their visits on the Monday following Thanksgiving, traditionally known as "Black Monday." This day is typically the busiest for the department, leading to significantly longer wait times for those without appointments.
DMV offices will be closed from Thanksgiving Day, November 28, through Sunday, December 1. The DMV Director Julie Butler stated, “Enjoy your holidays and don’t get stuck in the long lines early next week. The holidays are hectic enough without spending time in a crowded office.”
To avoid these long waits, the DMV suggests utilizing its online services or self-service kiosks available at most DMV offices and 31 other locations across Nevada. Additionally, AAA provides vehicle registration and handicapped placard services at five locations.
Motorists purchasing vehicles from Nevada dealers over the holiday weekend can register them online. The DMV offers options for receiving new standard plates by mail or transferring existing plates.
