Nevada residents needing vehicle registration services can now access them on Saturdays without an appointment. Starting November 14, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will offer walk-in hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its locations in Henderson, Las Vegas, and Reno. However, rural offices will remain closed on Saturdays.

The DMV's initiative aims to address the backlog caused by closures during the COVID-19 pandemic when department offices were shut from mid-March to mid-June and have since operated at half capacity. "We’re continuing to address pent-up demand for DMV services and reduce backlogs within the department," said DMV Director Julie Butler.

Butler emphasized the importance of proper vehicle registration for both motorists and law enforcement, stating, "We’re hoping to significantly cut the number of motorists driving on movement permits."

Transactions available during Saturday hours include original vehicle registrations and renewals. Customers with existing appointments are advised to cancel them if they utilize Saturday services.

Residents are encouraged to check dmvnv.com for online service options and required documentation before visiting a DMV office.
