The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has initiated an awareness campaign targeting the state's Spanish-speaking communities. The aim is to encourage these residents to utilize the DMV's expanding range of online and alternative services.
Under the tagline "Ponte Online con DMV" or "Get Online with the DMV," customers are directed to dmvnv.com/enlinea for more information. The initiative includes a new Facebook page, facebook.com/dmvenlinea, specifically designed for Hispanic customers. This campaign was developed by HCI Advertising in collaboration with The Abbi Agency, both based in Nevada.
"Reaching out to this key demographic in their native tongue is a win-win for all Nevadans. More customers using online services and kiosks mean fewer customers visiting the offices," said DMV Director Julie Butler. "We want native Spanish-speakers to be aware of the full range of online services we offer."
Hispanic residents make up about 29% of Nevada's population, and the department anticipates significant growth in their use of alternate services due to this effort. Recent improvements have been made by the DMV to better serve this community.
The MyDMV online portal has been expanded, allowing Nevadans without a Social Security number to establish an account. This enables Driver Authorization Card holders to access various services online, such as address changes and vehicle movement permits.
To assist in educating the Hispanic community, the DMV has invested in professional Spanish translation and transcreation services for several websites. These include pages dedicated to online services, kiosks, and GetRealNevada.com for information on Real ID driver’s license and ID card requirements. Additionally, DMV Now kiosks have always offered Spanish language options, while the DMV Driver Handbook and knowledge test are available in both written and audio formats in Spanish.
The "Ponte Online Con DMV" campaign will reach out through targeted advertising on social media platforms, internet display ads, networks, and radio advertising within Las Vegas and Reno.
