The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced a planned service interruption due to electrical maintenance at its Carson City office. This will occur on Sunday, April 7, and will last for six hours from 6 a.m. to noon.
During this period, all DMV services will be unavailable as the building's power, including all backups and redundancies, will be completely shut down. As a result, the DMV's computer systems will be offline.
"This is traditionally not a high-traffic time for our web servers," said DMV spokesperson Eli Rohl. "We do want to reiterate that everything using a DMV server will be completely dark - our website will be down, our emissions reporting network, and our online services. The good news is that it'll be ready for you by the time you get back from lunch."
DMV offices are typically closed on Sundays; therefore, customer impact is expected to be minimal.
