The NCEES 16-hour Structural Engineering Exam will transition to being the only professional engineering exam available in a pencil-and-paper format starting with the April 2022 administration. This exam will continue to be held twice annually, in April and October, but its availability will be limited to specific locations. In Nevada, Reno is the sole location where the exam will be offered by NCEES.

Registration for the Structural Engineering exam opens on December 13, 2021, and closes on February 24, 2022, at 3:00 pm EST.

Candidates selecting Nevada as their registration state do not require approval from Nevada authorities and can choose any convenient exam location. For further details on exam locations, individuals are directed to visit: https://ncees.org/april-2022-pe-structural-exam-administration/.

Nevada does not impose residency requirements for candidates choosing it as their registration state for the exam. Additionally, candidates are not obligated to pursue licensure in Nevada or obtain pre-approval. When registering with NCEES for the exam, applicants should select Nevada and then choose an accessible exam site that may even be outside of Nevada.
