On August 4, 2022, Willie Demario Jones was arrested by Nevada DMV officers in collaboration with the US Marshals Service. The arrest followed an incident at the North Decatur DMV office in Las Vegas, where Jones allegedly assaulted a security guard.

The event occurred on July 8, 2022, when Jones and his girlfriend entered the DMV office under false pretenses of having an appointment. They caused a disturbance and refused to leave when asked by staff. During the confrontation with security personnel, Jones reportedly struck one officer before fleeing with his girlfriend.

Authorities tracked down Jones using the vehicle's license plate and identified him as living with his girlfriend. Jones has a criminal record including aggravated robbery in Tennessee and several violent charges in Nevada. He also had active warrants for various offenses related to vehicles and driver licensing.

Jones faces multiple charges from this incident: Battery, Intimidating a Public Officer, Intimidating a Public Officer with Threat of Force, and Obstructing a Public Officer. He is currently held at Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $9,000. If convicted of Battery, he could face two to ten years in prison; Intimidating a Public Officer with Threat of Force carries a sentence of one to five years.

J.D. Decker, chief of DMV’s Compliance Enforcement Division (CED), stated: “Intimidating, threatening and assaulting government employees who are trying their best to serve the public under challenging circumstances simply won’t stand.” He expressed gratitude towards the US Marshals Service for their assistance in apprehending Jones.
