The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is advising walk-in customers to utilize online services or kiosks on the Monday following Thanksgiving, traditionally known as "Black Monday" due to high traffic. This year, DMV offices will be closed from November 25 through November 28, leading to longer wait times for those without appointments.
DMV Director Julie Butler encouraged people to avoid long waits by using alternative service options. "Enjoy your holidays and don’t get stuck in the long wait times early next week," she said. The department offers various online transactions such as address changes and personalized plate orders. A new feature allows motorists buying a car from a Nevada dealer to select from over 30 charitable license plates when registering online.
There are also 41 self-service kiosks available at supermarkets, partner locations, and DMV offices statewide. These kiosks can process and print registration renewal certificates and decals immediately. Additionally, AAA provides vehicle registration and handicapped placard services at five locations.

Customers are also advised to plan ahead for other upcoming holidays like Christmas Day and New Year’s Day since DMV offices will close on the Fridays before these holidays, potentially increasing wait times afterward.
