APEX Accelerators across the United States celebrated National APEX Day on October 9, 2024. The event highlights the achievements of numerous businesses, particularly small enterprises, that have benefited from APEX Accelerators' government procurement assistance to secure federal, state, and local government contracts.
The APEX Accelerator network consists of over 90 accelerators with more than 300 offices nationwide. This network includes over 600 procurement professionals who support local businesses in selling their products and services to government entities. In 2023 alone, they assisted over 56,000 clients in securing more than $24 billion in government contracts.
For over 38 years, APEX Accelerators have been instrumental in increasing the number of small businesses participating in government contracting. Dave Pease, past president of the National APEX Accelerator Alliance, stated: “APEX Accelerators embrace the challenge of helping small and innovative businesses bring products and services to government markets with their cutting-edge skills and technologies while maintaining essential security and cost-effectiveness.”
In Nevada, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s (GOED) Nevada APEX Accelerator division has supported small businesses since the 1980s. From April to July 2024 alone, various business clients won a total of $68.3 million in government contracts.
Joan C. Rueben, director of GOED’s APEX division since 2016, remarked: “It is a privilege to work alongside dedicated public servants who provide counseling and training to Nevada for-profit businesses.” She noted that these efforts help scale businesses and diversify Nevada's economy.
To celebrate National APEX Day further, Nevada APEX Accelerator will host an event on October 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center-West Hall. Attendees can network with over 100 government agencies and organizations.
Additionally, there is an open position for a government contracts advisor at GOED’s Carson City office.
