The Western Nevada College Wildcats made a notable entry into the Carson City Dodgeball Tournament, echoing the spirit of "A True Underdog Story." Although they did not clinch the championship, their performance was commendable, securing third place in the annual Parks and Recreation event. The tournament featured numerous teams from local government agencies.

WNC coach and backup player Casey Otto expressed satisfaction with the team's debut performance. “As for the experience, it was great. The team did very well for the first time out,” Otto remarked. He also praised the event as one of the best for fostering community engagement within government circles.

The Wildcats were halted in their progress by Gym Class Heroes, who won the tournament for a second consecutive year after defeating WNC in the semifinals. The Wildcats' roster included student athletes Jeanpierre Osorio Hinojosa, Christofer Nero, Ryan Johnson, Adrian Barrera, Austin Long, Pao Lee, and Matthew Romero.

Otto conveyed enthusiasm about future participation: “We will definitely be doing this again next year so long as Parks and Rec run the tournament again. Everyone had a blast and even after the game they all were excited for next year.”
