One of the notable features of the Joe Dini Library is the Bill Cowee Poetry Collection. This collection consists of over 1,000 poetry volumes that occupy four shelves within the library.
Bill Cowee generously donated his personal poetry collection to the library in 2007, two years before he passed away. While it includes works by poets worldwide, there is a particular emphasis on poetry from Nevada and the Western United States.
Cowee was honored with the Governor’s Arts Award in 2001 and played a role in founding the Ash Canyon Poets.
Ron Belbin, who serves as Learning and Innovation Director at Dini Library, recently spoke about Cowee’s collection with Scott Neuffer from Nevada Appeal for an upcoming feature titled “This Is Carson City.”
