The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) has approved tax abatements amounting to $19,274,000 for Vantage Data Centers. The company, which was established in Nevada in September 2024, is planning to construct a data center facility in Storey County. This facility is expected to accommodate one or two tenants and create around 10 jobs over five years with an average hourly wage of $64. Additionally, Vantage Data Centers will invest $254 million in capital equipment and generate $76 million in new tax revenues over a decade.

Governor Joe Lombardo commented on the development: “Data centers remain a vital component in our journey toward a more innovative and interconnected future. I look forward to the positive impact that Vantage Data Centers will bring to our state, and I extend my best wishes for their success as they help shape Nevada’s technological landscape.”

In another development, the GOED board has approved a Workforce Innovations for a New Nevada (WINN) application for Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). The approval totals $1,029,884 for the TMCC Lithium Loop Apprenticeship program aimed at addressing workforce needs in Nevada’s advanced manufacturing sector. This funding will enable TMCC to expand its capacity from 120 to over 300 qualified individuals who will undergo a four-week, 11-credit course tailored to meet high-demand job requirements within Northern Nevada’s Lithium Loop ecosystem.

Almost $9.9 million out of the $10 million WINN fund has been allocated for workforce development initiatives across the state.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development was created during the 2011 session of the Nevada Legislature as part of efforts by both the legislature and governor's office to restructure economic development within the state. Its role includes promoting a diversified economy, stimulating business expansion and retention, encouraging entrepreneurship, attracting new businesses, and facilitating community development.
