A group of 23 Dual Credit students from the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) recently had the opportunity to visit Nevada Gold Mines. From September 15 to 17, these students, including nine from Central Technical Training Academy and 14 from Rancho High School, participated in a tour of the Gold Quarry Mine in Elko, Nevada.

The tour provided students with practical insights into Advanced Manufacturing and Diesel Technology. They explored industrial maintenance areas and operated mining machines, offering them firsthand experience of their skills in a professional setting.

Students also learned about responsible mining practices during the trip. Additionally, they discovered potential career opportunities with starting salaries around $70,000. The visit included interactions over meals with young employees at Nevada Gold Mines, who shared their experiences working there.

The event concluded with a dinner where students met company leaders and Rancho High alumni who have successfully built careers in this industry.
