Western Nevada College Foundation has announced a significant contribution from Minden RV & Boat Storage, which donated a $50,000 endowment to support student scholarships. The endowment aims to alleviate financial barriers for students and enhance the college's capacity to invest in the community's future.

WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, "We are so thankful for the support of our community. This generous endowed gift from Minden RV & Boat Storage not only helps remove financial barriers for our students but also strengthens the college’s ability to invest in the future of our community."

Sierra Management Group (SMG), which has operated RV and boat self-storage facilities in Northern Nevada for over two decades, is backing this initiative. Dan Carter, wealth manager for SMG, explained their motivation: “Through a mutually beneficial arrangement, the idea of an endowment came up and we were excited for the opportunity.”

Carter emphasized his belief in higher education's value by saying, “I could not be successful in my current job or throughout my career without the knowledge I gained through higher education.” He hopes that their endowment will provide opportunities for those who might otherwise lack access to higher education.

Niki Gladys, Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Director of the Foundation, highlighted the impact of this contribution: “This endowment provides us with the flexibility to award scholarships to students with the greatest need, making a real difference in their lives and in our community.”
